The capital of the prefecture of the same name is situated on the island of Honshu and can look back at a centuries-old history, visible in sights such as Osaka Castle. Some 50 kilometers away, the ancient imperial city of Kyoto offers insights into the Japanese past.

Osaka Castle
The castle was originally built in the 16th century and has been reconstructed several times in the following centuries due to numerous destructions. Today, the main tower is home to a museum and an observation deck.

Tsutenkaku
The lattice tower in the southern part of the city offers a fantastic view of the entire surroundings.

Kyoto
With its Buddhist temples, its Shinto shrines and its palaces, Kyoto has been classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Until today the city is recognized as the cultural center of Japan.
